Reiki Healing

Rei:  "Universal, Divine" and Ki: "life force energy".

What is Reiki?

Reiki is an ancient Japanese  energy healing technique that promotes relaxation, reduces stress and anxiety through gentle touch.  It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

It is universal light energy that balances the chakras (energetic layers of the person) to create harmony in all areas of your life. It will also clear from you any negative energy and any energy that does not belong to you.

Reiki is often used in conjunction with other alternative therapies. It takes into account the whole person and helps activate each patient’s natural healing processes as well as restoring their physical and emotional well-being.

While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to learn and use Reiki. In fact, Reiki is not dependent on belief at all and will work whether you believe in it or not. Because Reiki comes from God, many people find that using Reiki puts them more in touch with the experience of their religion rather than having only an intellectual concept of it.

The health benefits of reiki

Reiki promotes relaxation, stress reduction and symptom relief to improve overall health and well-being. It can:

  • Bring on a meditative state.

  • Foster tissue and bone healing after injury or surgery.

  • Stimulate your body’s immune system.

  • Promote natural self-healing.

  • Relieve pain and tension.

  • Support the well-being of people receiving traditional medical treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and kidney dialysis.

Studies show that reiki treatment may create feelings of:

  • Peace.

  • Relaxation.

  • Security.

  • Wellness.

How does reiki work?

Reiki practitioners, like myself, act as a conduit between you and the source of the universal life force energy. The energy flows through the practitioner’s, to you.

The client determines the energy flow from the practitioner’s hands by taking only what they need. This helps the client know that we are supporting them only in what they need rather than what we think they need. This makes it the perfect balance to meet the client’s needs.

The Reiki energy clears out energetic blockages, aligns and balances each of these chakras so the body can return to a state of balance. Reiki is very relaxing it instills a sense of calm and lightness.

What does reiki feel like?

Reiki treatments typically last about 45-60 minutes. During a session, you’ll lie on a massage table fully clothed, as I, your reiki practitioner, gently places my hands, palms down, on or just above your body in specific energy locations. I use a series of 12 to 15 different hand positions.

The length of time that I leave my hands in each position is determined by the flow of energy at each location.

During the treatment , it is a perfect time to just zone out and just be present.

All I do is hold space for the reiki to help you in your healing, but it is you, the client, who truly does all the healing work in what you need for yourself and your highest good.

A treatment feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.
You may experience the energy in the form of sensations like heat, tingling or pulsing where I placed my hands. Sometimes, people feel sensations moving throughout the body, while other people do not perceive any change at all.

Most people feel very relaxed and peaceful during reiki treatment, and many fall asleep during the process.
